Potassium product replacement for feeding tubes

LIVE 6.16.2020:

On June 16, 2020, oral potassium chloride powder packets will be replaced with effervescent potassium bicarbonate/citric acid (EFFER-K®) tablets. This change will be reflected in all order sets and preference lists. Exception: KCL packets will be retained only for NICU orders.

Tablets should not be crushed or chewed, and should be dissolved in 3 to 4 ounces of cold or ice water prior to administration.
