Following a nearly year-long, Systemwide evaluation, the recommendation to move forward with Epic as MLH’s comprehensive clinical and business platform was approved by the Board of Governors in November 2015, and the PIVOT project at Main Line Health was born. The PIVOT project (Promoting Innovation by Valuing Organizational Transformation) means a transition Systemwide. Once complete, this will be more than a replacement of our IT systems. Ultimately, this will be an organizational transformation that will poise Main Line Health for a new era in health care.
Epic was chosen as the Electronic Health Record of choice, because the suite of products it offers will most effectively and successfully position Main Line Health for the future. This transformation will be a new way of doing business. How we interact with our patients, clinicians and staff will be evaluated and improved, and the result will be a system that further enhances our ability to serve as a leader of care delivery in our region.
In order to ensure the success of this implementation, a PIVOT project team was formed, guided by a highly effective leadership team led by Donna Phillips, PIVOT Executive Sponsor. But a successful transition to Epic, and ultimately a successful future for MLH, requires the support of the entire MLH team. This will mean a major shift within the organization culminating with the launch of Epic in March 2018. Each of us will be accountable for Promoting Innovation by Valuing Organizational Transformation. We are all agents of change.
